Introduced by Xera Plants, this shrubby manzanita is a natural hybrid found near the town of Manzanita on the Oregon Coast. This is new to our garden but we already admire the leathery gray green foliage and its dense and compact habit. The flowers are white with a pink blush. In summer, they are followed by surprisingly large red berries. This midsized evergreen shrub is attractive as a specimen or en masse and, because of its width, can even be used effectively as a woody ground cover. Arctostaphylos `Martha Ewan' can be grown in light or partial shade as well.

Early spring.  30 in. x 5 ft.
