We planted Carpentaria californica 'Elizabeth' in our Dry Border many years ago. It is now just over 9 ft. in height and has produced a tremendous display of large white flowers each year. The tan bark exfoliates giving the trunk a shaggy appearance. In the early autumn, the oldest leaves tend to hang limp and brown under clusters of evergreen leaves. The narrow leaves have somewhat glaucous undersides. Give this shrub good drainage.

Early to midsummer.  9 ft. x 5 ft.
