Cistus creticus ssp. creticus 'Tania Compton' is an upright shrub found by James Compton in 1961 on Crete. The brownish stems bear small, light green leaves that are scalloped along their edges.

This is a genus of small to medium sized evergreen and semi-evergreen shrubs that are mostly from Europe and North Africa. They thrive in full sun and light, well-drained soil. They are drought tolerant when established.
