From A. Girault, Orleans, France. This classic has been in the trade for many years. Its eight, broad, overlapping sepals remain cupped for a long time before the flower finally opens flat. A narrow, deep-red bar is visible in the center of each sepal. The white filaments show off the red anthers of Clematis `Etoile de Malicorne'.
Late spring to early summer; early autumn. 8-10 ft.
