Clematis 'Kinokawa' (Kichiya Shiozaki) is named for a Japanese river. Perhaps the almost white sepals with their pale violet to purple margins suggest that body of water. The flowers are 5 to 6 inches wide with pale green filaments and pale yellow anthers. The delicately colored flowers should be protected from the hot sun in order to maintain their subtle beauty. All of our Clematis are two year old plants that are suitable for immediate planting in your garden.

June; September.  6-8 ft.

Early flowering in the spring on the previous year's growth. If you hard prune, you eliminate most or all of the early blooms. Instead, groom this after flowering by cutting back the top one-third to one-half of some stems. This encourages new growth for possible summer bloom.
