Easily recognized by the rich pink margin around the white sepals, Clematis 'Omoshiro' is the work of the noted Japanese hybridizer Hiroshi Hayakawa (1988). This is a cross between Clematis 'Kathleen Wheeler' and an unknown parent. The shapely sepals are elliptical and come to a point. The contrasting boss of stamens is comprised of white filaments topped with red purple anther tips. Because this blooms on the previous year's wood, do not cut it back hard if you want the spring blooms.
