We thank the Friends of the Rogerson Clematis Collection for making these seedlings available to us. Clematis crispa varies in its natural range from pure white to blush pink to violet. These seedlings come from a violet form and will vary in coloration. The dangling flowers have greatly recurved sepals revealing their interiors. The sepals of this species have a textured quality and they are ribbed on their reverses. We have found Clematis crispa to be versatile in the garden, tolerating our heavy winter wet and our dry summers as long they get occasional water. Many of these seedlings are fragrant.
