Joy Creek Photo Archive (c) all rights reserved	We were privileged to be able to gather seeds and seedlings of Clematis texensis (Tarpley River Form) at a private ranch outside of San Antonio, Texas. We have seedlings from our original collection, all bearing the characteristic long scarlet tube with scarlet interior. In the wild we saw this growing through dense shrubbery on the side of the road. We treat it in a similar way, allowing it to ramble over shrub roses. Once established, the flowers continue to open all summer and well into the autumn. The seedheads are also dramatic and persist through the autumn. All of our Clematis are two year old plants that are suitable for immediate planting in your garden. Summer to autumn. 10-12 ft. Scarlet flowers *Sun, Part Shade Zones 5, 6, 7, 8, 9*
This summer bloomer has it main crop on the current year's growth. Prune this back hard at the end of winter to encourage new growth.
