While the lobed foliage of Geranium himalayense 'Gravetye' (var. alpina) is smaller than the species, the flowers are larger, reaching up to 3 inches in diameter. Violet blue blooms have a small white eye and the petals are somewhat redder toward their bases. When the leaves first emerge in the spring they are edged with a fine red line. The plant is named for the Gravetye Manor in England.
