Found on the grasslands and mountains of the South Island of New Zealand, this small evergreen shrub finds the Pacific Northwest to its liking. The small, rounded green leaves come to an acute tip. They may be only 5/8 inches long and 3/8 inches wide but the lime-green margin around each leaf makes it stand out clearly from the others. As with so many hebes, each set of leaves is perfectly alligned with the one above it giving the stems a geometric quality. Hebe masoniae is sometimes referred to as Hebe pauciramosa masoniae, however that name is no longer officially considered correct.
