Because this is basically a plant of moist woods and stream-sides, Ligularia stenocephala 'The Rocket' needs regular deep water. It is not uncommon on a hot summer day to find this plant collapsed at the end of the day. A deep soak with revive it if it is not administered too late. The bold, serrated leaves, black flower stems and 1 1/2-inch yellow flowers with orange centers make quite a display in a woodland garden. Summer. 6 ft. x 3 ft.
