We grow many Northwest native penstemon in our garden. Most have finished their bloom by the time summer arrives, but Penstemon venustus is a reliable summer bloomer. It can be found in a variety of growing conditions in Oregon, Washington and California. Good drainage and sunshine to light shade are necessary. The lower stems often sprawl in the garden but their flowering ends rise up and present their inch-long flowers to the viewer. The flowers of our form have a pink influence in their blueness.
