There is always great interest in Kaffir lilies in the fall when their brightly colored flowers serve as a counterpoint to the colors of the changing foliage. The grass-like leaves are 10 to 14 inches long, well below the inflorescences. Individual flowers are 2 1/4-inches wide. There are 8 to 9 flowers in an inflorescence blooming from the base to the top. Although Schizostylis c. `Salmon Star is spreading, it is not aggressive and is easily lifted and divided in the spring.
