Although this introduction was developed at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont, CA, it has proven suprisingly resilient in our local gardens. The dark red branches of Artostaphylos 'Pacific Mist' are snake-like in habit with the leading ends reaching upward at their tips. This shrub can get quite wide and can be used as a shrubby ground cover. Or allow it to drape down a wall or slope for yet another look. The narrow evergreen foliage is gray green.
Late winter, early spring. 3-4 ft. x 6-15 ft.
