Aster (Symphiotrichum) subspicatus is a common wild flower throughout the Pacific Northwest. Starry blue flowers face upward at the tips of the stems of this much-branched, airy perennial. It is often found near beaches or along streams or ponds and so is tolerant of moist areas, including coastal gardens. You will find native bumblebees and butterflies visiting the half-inch flowers.
