The small, rounded, somewhat glossy leaves of Azara microphylla are evergreen and create a lace-like pattern against the sky on this narrow upright small tree. Ours is now about 22 feet tall. It is fully tolerant of either sun or shade. The mature bark has patches of gray on brown. On sunny days early in the season, our lavender path smells like a bakery when the tiny yellow flowers emerge and give off their vanilla fragrance in the warming air. A Great Plant Picks selection.
