Centaurea montana is also known as Mountain bluet. We grow this fast-spreading perennial in our dry border where it forms a mat of lance-shaped leaves with wooly undersides. The flowering stems bear large bachelor button-like flowers that make visitors nostalgic for prairie plants.
Late spring to midsummer. 18 in. x 24 in.
