Clematis 'Kagayaki no Mai' (Kozo Sugimoto, pre-2001) has its heritage in Clematis viticella and reflects that species in its prolific summer bloom and smaller flowers. The red purple blooms have a distinct twist on their sepals that gives them the appearance of dancing on the vine.
