Her many crosses have only fleetingly found their way on stage outside of Japan. This is a shame because the ones we grow are very lovely. The large flowers of Clematis 'Rooran' (1995) have pale, wavy-edged sepals with rosy pink margins and veining. The filaments are cream colored with reddish anthers. The delicate yet rich coloration of the flowers suggest the romance of the ancient Chinese city along the Silk Road for which it is named. May and June; late summer. 6-8 ft. Because this blooms on old wood, cut this back lightly after it has finished blooming in early summer. Be sure to feed the plant in order to promote new growth and potential repeat bloom.
