Clematis heracleifolia 'Little Blue' was raised at the US National Arboretum from seed collected in China and obtained by us from plants raised in Japan, this form is a true dwarf woody shrub. We grow it in our Texture Garden where it tops out at 15 inches with a 20 inch spread. In late summer, it produces terminal clusters of tubular blue flowers. The foliage is gray green and much smaller than the species. These are seedlings from our plants. All of our Clematis are two year old plants that are suitable for immediate planting in your garden.
