We grow Cornus alba 'Argenteo-Marginata' a fairly large, somewhat suckering shrub as a transition between the Four Seasons Garden and the Mixed Border. The gray green leaves with white margins brighten up a part shade situation. In winter after leaf-drop, the fiery red stems tell yet another story adding fuel to the yellow flowers of Hamamelis mollis nearby. The new growth is the most brilliantly colored, so cut back at the end of winter to promote new growth. A Great Plant Picks selection.
May to June. 8-10 ft x 5-10 ft.
