The pink flushed, gold-ringed green foliage of Cornus alba 'Gouschaltii' serves as a backdrop for our Texture Garden during the growing season. Once the three-colored leaves begin to drop after the first cold-snap, the brilliant wine red stems become prominent adding a strong linear presence to the bed in winter. The flowers are small but reward viewing up-close. In the Texture Garden, which is fairly lean and dry, this dogwood stays about 5 feet in height. In well-amended clay soil, it reaches 8 feet.
