We are always looking for shrubs that are narrow and slow growing for customers who want accents for smaller gardens. This bloodtwig dogwood fills that bill and more. Cornus sanguinea `Compressa' is not simply narrow and slow to grow, it also has small leaves which are thick and stiff but curled giving the shrub an unusual, shaggy appearance. In the autumn those leaves turn purple. After the leaves fall, the red purple stems add color to the winter garden.
