Corokia x virgata 'Sunsprite' was found and cleverly named by our friends at Cistus Nursery. As its name suggests, this evergreen shrub is compact and slow-growing. In full sun, the leaves are almost platinum blond but in part shade they keep their bright yellow color. Individual leaves are lance-shaped and come to a distinct point. Grey stems covered in tiny hairs are fully visible through the sparse foliage. Corokia grow best in lean soils that are well-drained. They resent cold, wet winters in heavy clay. The original cross Corokia x virgata is between C. cotoneaster and C. buddlejoides.
