Cotoneaster nitidus anchors our fuchsia path. We have pruned it to create an open, upright, fan-shaped shrub that is always dynamic. From late spring to early summer, the countless small flowers are abuzz with the hum of honeybees. At high summer, the tall arching branches form a filigree of leaves against the sky. By the late summer, brilliant red fruits echo the red in the Christmas colored fuchsias nearby. These fruits persist into the winter when the plant becomes a haven for wildlife.
