The Cynara scolymus 'Green Globe' selection of artichoke produces large spherical green flower heads that are both ornamental and edible. Flowers left to mature will be bright purple. The large deeply lobed leaves are stiff and woolly to the touch. They are evergreen and look spectacular as a background in the mixed border. They can measure almost a yard in length.
