Tasmania. Drimys lanceolata is conventionally rated as not hardy in the Pacific Northwest but we have had it growing on our south-facing hillside for many years. An evergreen shrub that is striking for its red stems and glossy but leathery dark green leaves. In late spring this produces clusters of white flowers.
