Drimys winteri can form a large tree in its native habitat in Chile and Argentina. For us in the Pacific Northwest, it occasionally gets cut back to the ground in winter and regrows into an attractive shrub with large leathery oblong leaves. We have not seen flowers on our specimen, but those gardening in warmer climates may get to enjoy their fragrance as well as the aroma of their tangy berries.
Spring to early summer. 50 ft. x 30 ft.
