Introduced by Diana Reeck of Collector's Nursery. For some reason the early leaves of this epimedium remind us more of the jazz standard ''Round Midnight" than 'After Midnight'. This is because those leaves are encircled with a broad band of near black color. Needless to say, they are very attractive. As they mature, they lose that band of black and turn a uniform green. The fairly large white flowers have both white sepals and corollas. This clumping, deciduous perennial is easy to grow. We grow ours in a woodland setting with ferns, lamiums and cyclamens at the base of taller shrubs.
