Called Oregon sunshine, the cheerful yellow flowers of Eriophyllum lanatum are a welcome sight during our gray springs. This forms a dense woody mat with silvery foliage. It is literally covered with 1-inch, bright yellow ray flowers when it is in bloom. We grow it at the head of a path next to the parking lot. Customers emerge from their cars and go straight to it, then come to tell us of its beauty. It looks its best when grown with good drainage and minimal fertlizer.
