Eryngium giganteum is also known as Miss Willmott's ghost. Before we converted the mixed border, this biennial/short lived perennial held court near a central path. The striking, silvery green, spiny bracts which surround the large umbels age to buff by late summer. The flowers are as haunting as the common name.
