This small, open-habited tree grows on our unirrigated hillside where it receives only a half-day of light during the summer. It has often had to fend for itself and, because it is adaptable to both varying amounts of water and light, it has done well for itself. As the summer season comes to an end, the foliage of Euonymus e. `Aldenhamensis' takes on brilliant red tones. Very late in the season, the branches are strung with dangling pink fruits that open to reveal brilliant orange-fleshed seeds within.
