Discovered by Tetsu Hirasawa on Izu Penninsula near the cape that gives its name, this lovely woodland shrub has double infertile florets each of which is arranged in the shape of a star. The floral heads measure 6 inches across. The leaves of Hydrangea `Jogasaki' are also attractive with a reddish cast, a central red vein and red leaf stem.
