The very large rounded leaves on Hydrangea 'Shiro-gaku' ('Shirobana-gaku') are up to 6 inches across and 8 inches long. These are complemented by equally broad lacecap flowers of pure white, including both fertile and sterile flowers. As the sterile florets age and their petioles extend to send them facing the earth, their reverses also are white aging to a light green in late October. A lovely Japanese selection for the woodland garden.
