Hydrangea serrata is a mid-sized shrub with lavender-blue infertile florets and bright blue fertile florets. All in all it is airy in appearance. The leaves develop dark margins as they mature. By autumn, they turn entirely burgundy with pink reverses. H. serrata forms prefer afternoon shade.
