Named by Dan Hinkley for the Korean mountain where it was found, Hydrangea 'Chiri-san Sue' also celebrates fellow plant explorer Sue Wynn-Jones of Crug Farm Nursery in Wales. This delightful form of the mountain hydrangea is compact and mounding in habit. Depending on the pH of the soil, the large sterile florets can be pink or light blue. They are arranged in small mopheads with double florets. One very attractive feature of this plant is the burgundy brown staining on the foliage.
