It is hard to compliment Itea virginica 'Henry's Garnet' enough. Not only does it have fuzzy, large pipe-cleaner-like racemes of fragrant flowers in midsummer, but, by late summer, the leaves begin to turn brilliant shades of burgundy and red. In our mild winters the shrub is semi-evergreen and keeps its colors into the spring.
