Liatris punctata is found in the eastern part of the Northwest. Fine grassy, blue-green foliage rises up the stems with fine, stiff hairs all along the leaf margins. The foliage color makes the violet flowers appear bluer than they are. The buds are tightly adpressed to the stem as in L. pycnostachya but they are not as large. The spikes take up the top 4.5 inches of the stem.
