This large leaved clumping herbaceous perennial is a good statement plant for a consistently moist spot in the garden. The 12-16 inch diameter roundish heart shaped leaves of Ligularia vetchiana are carried on 30 to 40 inch stems which in themselves make a great bold look for the garden. The 3 inch bright yellow flower are carried on 4 foot stems above the foliage in July and early August. If adequate moisture is not available for the plant it will droop or scorchsignificantly during hot weather. With the Ligularias it is a good idea to bait for slugs and snails in the spring or any time the critters are active.
Early to midsummer. 6 ft. x 4 ft.
