When we are doing our winter clean-up, the sweet scent of the flowers of Lonicera fragrantissima cheers us up, especially when the flowers are warmed by rare winter sunshine. We often cut a stem to take indoors. Much of the rest of the year this semi-evergreen shrub recedes into the background serving as a backdrop for less cold tolerant bloomers. In the fall, the oldest leaves turn yellow before they fall. Blooms on old wood.
