Lonicera pileata is a very useful evergreen shrub with shiny dark leaves. It can be successfully used as a low spreading ground cover, as part of a mixed hedge, or play a part in a mixed border. The branches have a horizontal habit that will show off the occasional violet berries that glow like gems if backlit, making this a great choice for a situation where you look up at the plant from below.
