This drought tolerant perennial is a natural cross between two Mondardella species that was discovered in San Luis Obispo County, CA. The aromatic leaves, part mint/part citrus, are surprisingly evergreen throughout the year.. Beginning in late spring, the terminal flowers of Monardella villosa x purpurea open in whorls of tubular two-lipped flowers which appear lavender pink in the hot rays of the sun. Give this sharp drainage.
