There is almost nothing quite so exotic as an extra-large oriental poppy flower, especially one that looks like it has been created from mysteriously shellacked, scarlet crepe paper and fixed on its stem with an inky button. Surrounded by upright, green leaves lined with shimmering silver bristles, Papaver orientale 'Turken Louis' still has the power to attract even the most jaded of gardeners. Given good drainage and sun, oriental poppies are easy to grow. This clump-forming perennial can be divided in the spring.
Late spring to midsummer. 2-3 ft. x 2-3 ft.
