Found on either side of the Cascade Range from Washington to Northern California. This diminutive evergreen mat-former has small, rounded, dark green leaves growing on its woody stems. The tubular flowers are surprisingly large in contrast with the rounded leaves. The flowers almost cover the plant entirely during its few weeks of peak bloom. We grow it in a rockery where its glossy, evergreen foliage is always attractive.
