Since Persicaria bistorta 'Superba' is a somewhat running herbaceous perennial, we grow it in a large plastic container to keep it in bounds so that we can enjoy its beauty without worry. The two-foot flowering stems are topped by dense spikes of bright pink flowers over a long period. The rugged, puckered leaves with their bright central veins contribute to its "wild" look. This is very nice combined in a meadow with daylilies and cool season grasses.
