Balearic Islands. Although Phlomis italica is not thought of as hardy in the Pacific Northwest, it has survived well in a our no-water border with sharp drainage. It forms a very woolly, compact evergreen shrublet. The unusual tint of the wool gives this plant an earthy glow. Whorls of hooded pink flowers are reminiscent of Dutch collars.
