This creeping phlox has needle-like leaves that are reminiscent of heathers. It forms a rounded, low mat which can reach a circumference of 32 inches in 2 years. Our friend Andy Van Hevelingen recommended it to us as a ground cover for a sun-to-part-shade spot that tolerates some drought. It certainly has performed well in our gardens on a south-facing slope that is exposed to the sun most of the day. This particular selection has unusual smokey blue flowers that are notched in the center of each petal.
