After six years in the garden, Pieris japonica 'Prelude' (Taiwanensis Group) has still only reached about 3 ft. tall. The evergreen leaves have a decidedly more geometric arrangement than the other P. japonica forms. They are symmetrical and appear in whorls of decreasing size up the stems. The inflorescences also are very upright as opposed to lateral, the flowers held more outward than downward. There is only modest pink in the buds in the winter.
Early spring. 6 ft. x 6 ft.
