Although this evergreen shrub is not always hardy for us, its attractive foliage and shape are so pleasing that we take a chance on it. Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Elizabeth' is upright and somewhat more compact than many selections of the species. Its small, rounded, grayish green leaves are edged in cream and pink. In colder weather the pink becomes more pronounced. This color combination is especially attractive against the black, woody stems. The unusually colored spring flowers have a fragrance that is likened to honey.
