When Rehmannia elata is in bloom, it is one of our most-requested plants. The eye-catching, tubular, open-faced flowers face outward from tall spikes. When they are fully open, the 3-to-4-inch-wide flowers reveal their yellow throats which are lightly freckled in red. The basal foliage forms a rosette of large, fuzzy, lightly lobed mid-green leaves. In habit this perennial is relaxed. Allow the long blooming spikes to mingle with their neighbors in an open or partly shaded garden.
